Dust Bunnies
The Easter holiday will be here soon. I thought I'd set some dust bunnies out as decorations. Their really not too hard to find. Just look under the beds and furniture there's usually some hiding there. Cute little gray dust bunnies and they multiply so quickly.

roadtrip antics
conversation drones as the road rolls
like a conveyor belt under the tires
music drifting in & out between words
a lull & voices suddenly combine
Sweet Caroline!
picture a car full of bobbing heads
swaying in unison to the tune
and I chuckle
this is my family
noisy & rambunctious
sometimes cantankerous
always full of bursts of love
and the car continues on
its soundtrack is still the song
as chatter carries along
and that moment when it stops
and again...

Holiday Dread
Each year the same question asked
Every holiday the unchanged answer given
How absurd those responses were
Yet the cycle followed with giggles
Yearning for the past
Dreading the present
What I'd do to hear her
And fill the day with smiles
So lonely these days last
When will it be pleasant
That feeling such a blur
How long will i keep going through life's trials

Merry Christmas, Mom - Part XI
When I say that you were a wonderful mother and person, I'm being sincere.
The memory of the last Christmas that we shared is something I hold dear.
We spent many Christmases together but we won't be able to do it again.
We'll spend Christmases together in Heaven in the future but I don't know when.
Back in 2012, I gave you and Dad two presents each on Christmas Eve.
You passed away less than three months later and it was hard to believe.
I didn't realize just how sick that you were.
Your death was painful and hard to endure.

Camel for Sale
A peculiar-looking camel
colorful beyond compare
sewn together with bits of fabric
exhibiting exotic flair.
Handmade by these two hands
an artful piece of work
decor for year around or holidays
whichever season works.
He's a camel like no other
with messy, light blue hair
so easy to care for
quite quirky and so rare!
Buy it for someone special
or keep it for yourself
put it in the Christmas manger
or set it alongside that mischievous little elf.

The Boss's Holiday Party
What a great party! It’s never a dud!
The boss wears an ugly sweater, he's such a young stud!
His wife is our hostess adorable and sweet.
She fills the house with lots of wine and goodies to eat.
Soon it will be time for the Christmas gift exchange,
better play by their rules or you'll be out on the range.
All of the employees will be there too.
Watch out! They just might try to steal a gift from you!
A crackling fireplace on the big screen tv,
this party had it all that’s how the holidays should be.

Christmas Tradition
Last year I made the mistake of saying,
"Let’s make Christmas a little more fun,”
“And buy all our gifts from an auction."
Oh, how I wish those words could be undone.
Our son thought that was a great idea,
and he started some online bidding,
on many lots of miscellaneous junk,
sadly, he was winning.
For his dad it was a bin of well-used tools,
which made him very pleased,
Dad said, “Thanks so very much son!”
“I can definitely use all of these.”
My son then handed me a gift.
Oh, I wonder what it could...

Thanksgiving Time is Here
It’s such a special time of year,
good food, family, fun and laughter,
tables decorated in Thanksgiving cheer,
with a feast so lovingly prepared,
of turkey, ham and sweet potatoes,
mashed potatoes and gravy too.
Don’t forget the dinner rolls and cranberry sauce,
stuffing and green bean casserole.
Woohoo!
And then if you’re still hungry,
there are many delicious desserts to try,
apple, peach and pumpkin pies,
cake, cookies and whoopie pies,
just to name a few.
All to be shared,
with friends and family
as we laugh,...

Turkeys Everywhere
The turkeys find not one,
but many lying on the ground,
apples everywhere,
what a feast these birds have found.
However did this happen,
where'd all these delicious apples come from,
apples everywhere,
the feast has just begun.
The turkeys fill their bellies,
with all the delicious, ripe red fruit,
apples everywhere,
bellies bulging out.
Stuffed with too many apples,
the turkeys had not foreseen,
apples everywhere,
many hunters on the scene.
Feathers soon went flying,
the sweet bait...
but many lying on the ground,
apples everywhere,

Corned Beef Dinner
The smell of corned beef floats through the kitchen, mustard, and spices, such a robust scent. The way you would expect a man to smell, but they never do. I feel like I could drool. The oven clicking with the changing of the temps. and warming the house on this cold winter day. I feel like drooling again. A side of mashed potatoes, tangy sauerkraut, and garlic green beans with bacon. The menu’s complete, it sounds so good. I’m sure I’ll start drooling any moment now. The timer just buzzed, it's time to eat.
