Bushido
Perceive that which cannot be seen
with the eye ~ Miyamoto Mushashi
Bushidō does not quilt needles of bone
into a deep olive battleground
unprovoked; nor is it an acquisition
of robust spoils for the champion.
Neither is it a lavish banquet
encrusted with the delicacies
of an ancient Asiatic ritual,
or salty Mediterranean basin:
its sun, sea, and olive treeline.
Bushidō is old and mythic...

Ancient art, for on cave walls
The alphabet of life was drawn
Perils faced from tooth and claw
Cave mens records, captured scrawls
Just bits and boobs the intrigue of their lifes and skills

Anatomy of Family
When I was little, I didn't understand
how part of something could die
while the rest flourished: a tree limb
tiger lily, blackberry bush—and so
forth.
Growing up a gardner, I grew acutely aware
of pruning as a necessity for dying parts
to give the remainder of plantlife
the greatest chance to survive—
At 13, I learned this about humans:
my mother became terminally ill;
they severed nerves to give her body
fighting hope to exist without pain ...

What did I do for her? Well she’s calling me at 3am with gf stories..I might’ve had something in my bed but uh…she’s missing..well she can’t drive…its too late probably for her to be on the el…I use to do it once and a while at odd hours..but she she wasn’t really that type…some man would probably spit me back up or got tricked the fuck out trying like Hollywood Swinging…straight as a board, handful of ass… probably thought I was dude or at least mtf ts- that would make you a cigarette; usually oblivious- brogan like an old world...

It's been tainted and painted with a different hue
Whitewashed to reduce remnants of people like you
The truth has been subdued inside sarcophaguses
Hieroglyphically written on the walls of the pyramids
Hid in plain sight and edited in the books they write
Knowledge of self on your shelf brings them fright
For it might inspire the rise of your consciousness
Miseducation equations equate ignorance as being bliss
Prescribed with a kiss of death if you teach anything else
Chastised, like a disobedient child, with nation wide belts

Light of the sea
Light of the sea
In the dream, my life was smoke: I couldn’t breathe.
So I ran, unwrapping myself down the beach
till my skin, the ocean, lapped at my knees.
I dove in. Your voice was the current,
a melody gathering words to itself
for to sing, and then sang them,
and they swirled all around as iridescent fish
bringing light to the world.
Then I was water, a river
washing the night from my flesh,
and a cradled body rising in me
till it was clean, glow¬ing,
and when I surfaced, glistening, ...

Shattered Nights
Through my maternal heritage,
I am Gaelic Scots, Welsh
and Breton (Celtic Brittany).
Through my paternal ancestry,
I am joined at the influences of
the eastern Ukraine (White Russian),
Polish/ Hungarian & German Jews.
Through my father’s lineage,
we shall most likely never know
the exact count of how many
members were taken,
to perish on the way to
or while interned at the camps.
So many (also with families)
were swept up in the mindset of
murder...

The Wild West is dead
The Wild West is dead
Even the vultures, flies and maggots
That feasted on the Gunslingers flesh are dead.
All that is left:
Bones in unmarked graves
Millions of forgotten names
The odd rusty gun
The odd rusty blade
The odd rusty bullet
A ton of forgotten corpses
Not just sheriffs, dancers, train robbers, bounty hunters or outlaws
Cleaners, cooks, servants, pastors, ranchers, shop assistants
Just normal citizens
Mundane lives and chores
Struggling to survive
Died of strokes, heart attacks, Cancer or old age
No...
