Freedom
Freedom
Will I ever be free?
Will I ever have the only one mirage?
Me!
Only me!
I am tired of postponing my love,
Of leaving verses out.
Of leaving it in between the lines.
I need only one face.
If I will ever use a mask
It will only be for Avant-Garde expressions.
As I play with my nakedness.
With my transparent skin.
And nude thought.
How long?
How far?
The dread of tomorrow morning.
In this land of blur.
With thick angry clouds.
In-between me and ray of light.
How long?

The dread of tomorrow morning.
In this land of blur.
With thick angry clouds.
In-between me and ray of light.

Weep Freedom
the harvest moon
bright, high up the sky
casts light and shadows
she stands still
home where her life is
wishing she could leave
shackles borne by the unloved
in a union of convenience
arranged by beloved family
she hopes for freedom
someday perhaps, gods be kind
when he leaves of own accord
bright, high up the sky
casts light and shadows
she stands still
home where her life is
wishing she could leave
shackles borne by the unloved
in a union of convenience
arranged by beloved family
she hopes for freedom
someday perhaps, gods be kind
when he leaves of own accord

Mr. Sancho’s Rainbow Dance
Mr. Sancho’s Rainbow Dance
Dreadlocks flying free as the wind
He finds redemption
In a Marley vinyl
That fine-tunes his soul
For an irrepressible dance
On the streets of Old Cartagena
Where he is a song of nature
Strummed on the guitar of his body
When his sinewy muscle strings vibrate
To the freedom of a Caribeña breeze
There he hovers like a dragonfly
In the shadow of Spanish colonial Cathedral
Winged feet dance with the sun
In his Caribbean sandals
As he flamenco struts
With a sunbeam...
Dreadlocks flying free as the wind
He finds redemption
In a Marley vinyl
That fine-tunes his soul
For an irrepressible dance
On the streets of Old Cartagena
Where he is a song of nature
Strummed on the guitar of his body

If I Were An African King
If I were an African King,
The Malika's of my dreams.
Wearing dresses, with princess seams.
Deprived not, of a lavish thing.
If I were an African King.
Mwezi lit nights, with flesh that screams.
Thirts that flow, as The Lopori streams.
With all the spark my upanga can bring.
If I were an African King.
Smiles that shine, like The Namib beams.
Their trees "give on" as the tongue reams.
Upon their lips, my name that they'd sing.

Shake the Vows
A needle pricked seamstress, bored
Stitching buttons on ventriloquist dolls,
Sewed wedding rings to tambourines.
And played a song of freedom
For oppressed housewives, and
Children of the walking dead.

it's not a prison, but you'd be forgiven for mistaking it as one
Places like this
aren't made for honest people
if you were honest when you got here
you won't be honest
by the time you leave
I don't know a single person
who hasn't broken the rules
myself included
I've broken three today already
and I'll break two more
before the day is out
Because freedom comes at a price
and it's hard enough to be here
that getting a gold star for compliance
isn't on anyones agenda
though my file would make you think
I'm the kind of person
that can walk that...

Spaceship Satellite
Spaceship Satellite
Can you here me
La la la la..
Losing control like
La la la la
I make music to feed souls
And fill holes.
Spaceship to ground control
Do you see me out in the distance?
Floating out here, there ain't no resistance.
Climbing to the top of my thoughts,
Broadcasting them from my spaceship satellite.
I'm up here alone,
But it sure feels nice.
I'm floating home,
Just roaming right.
Inside my starship interior
Real feelings,
Ain't none inferior.
Will...

Letters from the gulag homeichapelago
It was good seeing Bobby friday
even if at the required 6ft social distance
We laughed
shared a joke about times, day by day forgotten
Reminiscing of the bbqs we used to share in the park. Deceased now of family, music laughter
Bobby mentioned the sisters are defying orders and remaining open, so as to still provide food and basic needs for the vulnerable. How so many of us fall into that category now.
I remarked on those doing the same thing here. Both of us agreeing how wonderful humanity's defiance during this is.
We both wish fond...

Scrap Paper
I have thought a great deal
about the freedom of
writing,
drawing
doodling
on cheap newsprint.
A disposable medium.
For practice.
The safety,
the permission
it gives to experiment.
Without fear of failure,
criticism
exposing too much of yourself.
Thoughts made permanent
in
a precious notebook.
Available to judgmental eyes,
even if they are just your own.

The Plantation
did the plantation ever die?
worthy of a private eye
a question, needing the address
flipping the pages of unrest.
vast were the lands
providing for the heritage to withstand.
now the humor is less than jest
once again the owners read from their list
mistakes, obviously they did make
heavens let's not forsake.
the fierce of the whip
in modern times they do skip.
honey from the evermore sinister
the plot now is given less vinegar.
did the plantation really die?
observing of these days,
cripples me to say. ...
