Amnesia and the taste of pleather
My love notes on your shirt
grew as sticky
as the air
in my wasted lungs
and the feel of your
forehead against mine
scared the shit out of me. again.
angered me. again.
fucked me up in what I
can only brand as the
flavor of
us;
and our version of love
is poison in a diet-coke can
served ice-fucking cold
again.
your warm mouth traced
hope on my...

Redemption In The Wreckage
I’ve always loved you best
in the dark
away from prying eyes in
revered silence
where your allure was mine
and it whistled careless as
the wind cutting through the cliffs
from those moments I stole and we shared
right now you remind me of a hymn
of blasphemy sung in augmented fourth
I can’t bear to see you like this
our names crusted in your blood
as you traced
what was lost on the mantle
the mahogany absorbing your essence
filling the carved out words
reflecting it...

Beheaded Poem
I beheaded a poem
For you... my rhyme
I cleaned its insides
I took off its eyes
For not having to bear
The humidity of the tears
I blew the letters up...
I threw the letters down
I washed the poem clean
I've let the scales dry
So I could do a helmet
To avoid beheading...
For you... my rhyme
I cleaned its insides
I took off its eyes
For not having to bear
The humidity of the tears
I blew the letters up...
I threw the letters down
I washed the poem clean
I've let the scales dry
So I could do a helmet
To avoid beheading...

It Was Very Good
In those moments as I rocked gently over Shawn,
I suddenly felt the thoughts of past lives swirling in my head.
I continued rising and falling against Shawn’s firmness
while watching feelings of guilt drifting through an open window
as if pulled by a draft into the night sky.
I felt fears, loss, and brokenness falling from my body
and being pulled into the night.
I was in the moment and felt Shawn’s presence within me,
but I’d stepped back like a witness,
observing without judgment.
Gradually I came to realize ...

Let’s Take Each Other To Hell One Last Time
I’ve always had a way
with the petrified and scared
despite the way my body pulses
aposematic signals
from the scarred knuckles and hulking frame
to the frown lines etched into my face
and I wonder if it’s
because of a sympathetic-nervous-system response
reminiscent of the times I hid in a closet and read books
my small boy body discoloured in the hue
of the beating I took
adrenaline still pounding through my trembling flesh
or if it was because I didn’t care if I got hurt ...
