The Study of Devotion
Chapter 1
The soft glow of dawn filtered through the dorm room window, and the jarring buzz of the alarm clock snapped Evangeline from her dream. She let out a groan that morphed into a yawn, then stretched. Rolling over, she stared at her ceiling for a good 15 minutes before her stomach growled, urging her into action. She got up, set her coffee pot to brew, and hurried off to shower. After dressing, she settled down with a bowl of cereal and a cup of hot coffee in her favorite mug, running her fingers through her cascading waves of brown hair and tucking a few stubborn strands...

veterans
The veterans
JD Vance and Tim Waltz have in common
they have served and can call themselves
veterans, which has a sacred meaning
They joined to serve and defend America's
values of freedom and democracy
We know that for the two above, it was
about further education, to join but too long
and get out when the going got tough
Still, they are veterans who served.
I think of the men from the many small towns
unknown by most people, they joined and
was sent to Vietnam, fighting a war in
the name for freedom and democracy ...

Chasing the dark
Day after day it's the same
Yearning for the parasite
Inside the dross of my brain
But it shows on my face
I can't hide it in my eyes
I'm in a insidious race
To see my final demise
I've been chasing the dark
For way too long
This time I've gone too far
There's no going home
I look all around me
Noone to call
Noone I see
Noone to save me from this unavoidable fall
Now I live in the darkness
No love is shown here
Shrouded in my sickness
Surrounded by my fears

Buried my heart
For 18 years I called you my husband, and loved you every minute. On June 9,2024 well at work I got a call that broke my heart. I was informed you had passed away. How do I let you go? How do I keep moving. I should not be a widow at 44. One week after our daughters 14th birthday I had to call your mom and tell her her only son was dead. And go home and tell our three girls their dad had passed away. Deviated is an understatement. I don't know who I am without you. How do I keep fighting and living without my heart. We had a life we shared, and everywhere I look I see places we used to go....

Foot Loose
I sat with one of my legs
Hanging over the side of the bed
Daydreaming (it was 3:30am
So i suppose i should call it night dreaming
Whilst wide awake!)
Letting my imagination run away with me (like we were eloping!)
When i imagined an arm coming out
From under my bed
And grabbing me by the ankle!
Needless to say
I quickly lifted my leg onto the bed
Which made me feelb quite silly
So out of bravado, and retalliation to my fears
And that it was complete nonsense to have such fears
I decided to hang both mylegs over the side...

On/Off The Web
I just saw a large spider
Scuttle across my floor
And my immediate thought is
"That's a large spider!"
But it's now 4am
And i'm in no mood for spider hunting
But i have to consider. once i fall asleep
Will this giant enormous spider
("what me! exagerate?")
Pounce on me in my slumber?
I decide to take my chances
As sleep beckons, like a tax return
And what if the spider bites me?
And turns out to be radio-active
Will i become Spider Woman?
I doubt it, as apart from anything
I'm terrified of...

The Lioness, And Me
I cant comprehend how it happened, but i somehow was in my room,, in the company of a fully grown lioness, and one of her enormous paws, lay across my chest! but such is the way of dreams.
I was pinned down, and i knew i was at her mercy, fully aware of her power, and also that my life was in the laps of the gods/godesses.
I could hear her heartbeat, it sounded calm,and steady, and i didn't want to do anything that may change this. i wanted to scream for help, but was terrified that this may stir her into action. Her breathing sounded relaxed, and i hoped these sounds were signs...

Gaza's hostages
When IDF tried to free six of Hamas hostages
holed up in a tunnel, the six, two women and
four men were found dead
three questions arise.
When were the hostages shot?
During the firefight?
Or were they sacrifices?
we know that the vile regime
the Israel regime is capable of anything foul
Hamas could have murdered
the hostages to stop the IDF from searching
for more hostages

we are horrified
We are horrified
So, we are outraged by the Gaza genocide
I have a doctor's appointment at eight tomorrow
morning that is important if I miss this,
I might wait
for several weeks for a new one.
we see the pictures of Gaza, we are horrified
but our holiday has been postponed until
the end of August
Do we wonder why Muslim countries are not
doing anything for Gaza, but that means
taken a risk, but we convey our misgiving
as long as nothing more is needed

When I can't sleep
in the night
I close my eyes

of stars

What is it about
To find signs of life?
Not at all
It is to find humans
like you and me
To prove once and for all
death is a transfer
to a fabled place
if under frozen oceans
A paradise
where those who went
