Poems about Dawn
#dawn
Poems about dawn, sunrise; the first appearance of light in the sky in the morning. Dawn poetry about the beginning of the day, when the world wakes up.
that steady morning
that morning,
steady within
its own
footsteps,
clung
to the
darkness
of it,
now
thrust in
the midst
of light,
they both
stuck together,
there is
a hunger,
a courtship,
which may
continue
for hours.

JUST ANOTHER FREE FLOW DAWN (7-11-2001; Galveston Island, Texas)
as i open the blinds
on my east facing windows
first light comes
rose peach dawn
silently softly spreads aloft
across high escarpments
of billowing mountainous
cumulus clouds
blue and barely moving
over this gulf s horizon
illuminating the outer edges
of this wondrous godland s
slowly ever morphing lanterned realm
vaporous filaments of pink
and blood orange red
burning skirt of sun s orb rising
up over this new day s vast sparkling gulf
gradually filling morning sky
high above us...

Before the Sigh
Before the Sigh
Spent the morning listening to Hurley,
reading Simons, inhaling Salt,
stretching in sheets where white light pours through.
The sky painter has returned from his sabbatical.
He says 'We are all dying," and I smile,
as the Sun tests out the idea of gloaming,
escapes through a canvas still stained upon his palm,
she is no longer grains of sand and old embers.
Clouds rush by as if one can't brush fast enough against the other,
mouths on mouths of plush, lightly crushed rain.
It's wet. Crows call out to...

Re-Entry
It was a doozy of a star
that shot from south to north
in flying colors most bizarre
sizzling back and forth.
But that event, so rare and quick,
in no way could compare,
to Luna's witching hour trick
for mesmerizing air!
And so I sat there in the yard
upon a cushioned chair
and gave the moon a slow regard
via hypnotic stare.
Next thing I knew the skies were bright
and stars began to fade
when cognizance returned the sight...
where once those moonbeams played.

Frozen in my cocoon
Late days sky,
Cloudy, and peering through the leaves
Winds, strong, but welcome from the Arizona heat
Wind through the Palo Verdes makes a wall of sounds
Crickets singing,
joining in harmonic convergence in my Desert, that is silently loud
Loneliness pulled from the air, a forever sound never heard
The three snowflakes and a winter leave,
They are wonderful, forming out of nowhere
Cool night blowing,
Sounds of Tucsonan stirrings
Coyote howls, Javelina grunting, picking up olives and fruits
a bat flies low, the sound of wings...

Sunset
It was a warm sunny day.
Birds were chirping, negative emotions are astray.
The sound of the kids playing in the local park.
Untill the sky starts to get dark.
The way it paints the sky as a canvas.
And dogs begin to bark.
The way the stars sparkle once it gets dark.
Before that, mother nature paints her way.
Red,orange,yellow.
Using her paintbrush with no delay.
The blue starts to go away.
In this warm summer day.
She uses her paintbrush.
Pink,orange,brown.
And the sight erases your frown.

Mountain Sunrise
There was a peaceful way the soft rays
of dawn's infant light.
Lay beside the enigmatic shadows
of the silent mountainside.
The sight melted every care away,
lasting a multitude of sweet moments
within my day.
The lovely ambient orange glow.
Softens the shape of the days
I don't yet know.
Paralysis of pain.
The strong mountain,
whispers my name.
Conditions of pleasure
exist at the summit of my brain.
of dawn's infant light.
Lay beside the enigmatic shadows

Morning Senses
This sunrise
Is the best
Morning sighs,
The senses
Come alive
For the life,
A scent wafts
Of coffee
Steamed dreams,
Squirrels romp,
Leap and lunge
Airs above,
Honey taste
Melts in heat
Stirred slowly,
Embracing
Sensory
Discovers.

morning reverie
Reverie is not a mind vacuum. It is rather the gift of an hour
which knows the plenitude of the soul."—Gaston Bachelard
i kiss the morning, like a fresh-blown wind
of zeal and courage and new hope brim-filled;
leaving the debris of my past behind,
i grasp the sunshine, valleyed and steep-hilled.
a winging john-tu-whit raises a song
that dances through the lush pimento grove;
its music bears the calm for which i long
to ferry my expectant hopes above.
a giant-grin sunflower lifts her head,

Big Bear's Winter Whisper
In the silent hush of Big Bear's embrace,
Where snowflakes dance with delicate grace,
A frozen canvas, under the sun's soft gaze,
Speaks of serenity in a million ways.
Footprints etch stories on the white expanse,
A testament to nature’s quiet romance.
Mountain air whispers through the pines,
In this haven where tranquility aligns.
Here, gratitude blooms like alpine flowers,
For this retreat with its timeless hours.
A balance struck 'twixt peace and play,
Where nature’s hand skillfully sways.
As skis glide and...

Boreal Flower
the flower screaming
in the creases of the night
the afternoon screaming
your sunsets
its dawns and the
long night
leans out the window
and watch the procession pass
the night is still in the churchyard
loaded with wounds
the night falls from the eyes
of insomniacs and falls asleep
in the bed of all rivers
the night peers
the unfathomability.
