Poems about Dawn
#dawn
Poems about dawn, sunrise; the first appearance of light in the sky in the morning. Dawn poetry about the beginning of the day, when the world wakes up.
The Writer's Pen
There is an old soul
who's picked up the flame.
Sitting and watching
the sun go down
on the other side of the mountains,
Down, down, down,
It looks as though it's burning.
who's picked up the flame.
Sitting and watching
the sun go down
on the other side of the mountains,
Down, down, down,
It looks as though it's burning.

Winter Luminescence
Whisp of cold air
Flying flakes free
Ice upon my hair
Falling to my knees
Coming of twilight
Sitting in snow
Between day and night
Wait for stars to show
Shine without heat
Cold to the bone
Freezing my feet
For winter has shown
Though without dread
In the frozen glade
With naught but leaves dead
In bliss I wade
Flying flakes free
Ice upon my hair
Falling to my knees
Coming of twilight
Sitting in snow
Between day and night
Wait for stars to show
Shine without heat
Cold to the bone
Freezing my feet
For winter has shown
Though without dread
In the frozen glade
With naught but leaves dead
In bliss I wade

Antemeridian
She was a wee slip of a thing
hanging low in the trees;
a coquette on a wild fling
yet eager to appease.
It was quick like silver she came
and just as quickly went,
like a wispy alchemist flame
that heaven gently sent.
Breaking day wouldn't let her be
so soon she'd disappear,
to blend in morning liberty
with daybreak atmosphere.
She went to kiss her darling sun
to feel young and new
before she once again got spun...
into the midnight blue!
hanging low in the trees;
a coquette on a wild fling
yet eager to appease.
It was quick like silver she came
and just as quickly went,
like a wispy alchemist flame
that heaven gently sent.
Breaking day wouldn't let her be
so soon she'd disappear,
to blend in morning liberty
with daybreak atmosphere.
She went to kiss her darling sun
to feel young and new
before she once again got spun...
into the midnight blue!

A Day Without Sun
I despise this wretched place
Where the sky forever heralds light
Sunbeams scorch and burn my face
A relentless, golden blight
I yearn for cold shade
The solace of shadowed rule
Umbral waters I'd wade
Immersed in its Cimmerian pool
I pray for the sun’s dying breath
For Nox to reign and smother more
Yet I know I plead in vain with death
This battle is lost, this endless war
From this cursed, red-dusted soil
I call to the night for its start
To end this gleaming, sky-lit boil
Return my race's starborne...
Where the sky forever heralds light
Sunbeams scorch and burn my face
A relentless, golden blight
I yearn for cold shade
The solace of shadowed rule
Umbral waters I'd wade
Immersed in its Cimmerian pool
I pray for the sun’s dying breath
For Nox to reign and smother more
Yet I know I plead in vain with death
This battle is lost, this endless war
From this cursed, red-dusted soil

To end this gleaming, sky-lit boil
Return my race's starborne...

Skywatchers
The first hint of light
And the new day has begun
In the shadows of the sun
Beneath cosmic illumination
Piercing through the clouds
Forests and windows
As the mornings breath
In the air gently blows
Lonely is the night
Yet no one is alone
Witnesses of the new moon
Sometimes bright
Always fading soon
And the new day has begun

all of the signals
i watch
all of
the signals
the hours
give, no
sadness,
no tangled
strange
ideas,
how subtle
when each
new day
arrives.

Whispers On The Twilight Air
Soft whispers rise upon the twilight air
As day doth wane and shadows gather near
The sun’s last breath, so golden and so fair
Doth cast its glow upon the spire clear
Towering stones, in solemn grandeur crowned
Embrace the hues of dusk’s celestial fire
While distant choirs in holy strains resound
And fill the night with echoes that inspire
The fading light doth gently play and dance
Upon the ancient stones, both firm and cold
And in this hour, the soul feels sweet romance
A fleeting warmth in evening’s tender hold
...

Wisp of Coffee
Wisp of coffee curling in the air
from the porcelain demitasse.
Getting high on the earthy aroma
permeating the zephyr
under the serene aurora,
where I hummed with whispers of dawn,
swam through the bittersweet flow
warming the gelid within.
Caffeine pervading my veins,
I’m in a daze.
from the porcelain demitasse.

Hope I Don’t Fall Before Time Runs Out On Me
Hope I don’t fall before time runs out on me
Medicare problem of the elder society
Take a step and hope that you don’t fall
Down the steps of misery of being old
Brittle bones and grey hairs give up your charade of being young
Maybe some Metamucil will cure you
Or if it comes to it Brighto from 3 stooges
Will set you straight firm your constitution
But time keeps ticking looking to drop down the shade of us
My head feels young in me
Brain firing on all cylinders
Try and learn something new to keep
The synapses...

broken light
that early
morning
dawn was
breaking,
but still
felt well
enough
to take
a walk
with me.

i pick my moment
i pick
my
moment
as the
day
climbs
into
my room,
singing in
my ear,
now,
my eyes
open, i
watch
those
blades
slice open
the
darkness,
and
whatever
scraps
are left,
get tossed
out by
daylight.
