It was hot, too expensive
and you didn't want to go
not alone anyway
renaissance fair in late May
everyone sweating
dressed to doublets and kilts
except for a dancing flame
wearing bell bottoms
and low slung swaying hips
she was willowy and tall
parading bare feet
all the adornment needed
with eyes the color of poetry
processing a hawks' way of seeing
into your heart
and into your mind
a new dance beginning
with joyous first steps
you bump into her by...

Dancin' on the silver bird
Loves light in flight
Extending my long, black talon

Trying to distinguish whether
it be woman or wild animal
