What is the true purpose of
Me
From the day I opened my eyes
Into the unknowing world
The immediate world
Mom, Dad, and Me
Like a bud
Precious and new
Timid to push forth
On a planet that is skewed
With plans for me and you
I grow as I must
Ingest and trust information
To go on and survive
To stay here
To stay alive
Then, the brutality came.
Constant like unforgiving rain
In the form of laughter and judgment
Pain
This is just a season I must endure
To...
Me
From the day I opened my eyes
Into the unknowing world
The immediate world
Mom, Dad, and Me
Like a bud
Precious and new
Timid to push forth
On a planet that is skewed
With plans for me and you
I grow as I must
Ingest and trust information
To go on and survive
To stay here
To stay alive
Then, the brutality came.

Pain
This is just a season I must endure

A Lark
on the centenary of Philip Larkin's birth,
August 9th, 1922
Cannot scan as well, of course.
The dude in glasses better than that,
as always as in other things,
would note that even this is poor.
But when you've both let down your share
of boys and girls and other meats,
and been a bastard of a gent,
you feel as if you know a chap.
And even if my poem's crap,
the store unkept and left bereft
of Whitsun's wedding bells,
deceptions leave a window cleft.
And in that window age looks out, ...
August 9th, 1922
Cannot scan as well, of course.
The dude in glasses better than that,
as always as in other things,
would note that even this is poor.
But when you've both let down your share

You
Reassuring and safe,
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.
Showed my own mom your image last night -
Asked her what she thought...
'She's nice, Billy,' she said,
Despite knowing nothing...
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
