City Streets, London - Before Covid
An autumn day
crisp but sunny
crowds stand at traffic lights
tourists amble, pausing to take photographs
buildings tower over busy roads
making them look like avenues
England’s capital
ageless
another day

making them look like avenues
England’s capital

the city dwellers entry ..
the country inn was almost empty
tables and chairs aplenty,
but no one’s
there is, however,
an old man in the back, who sneers when
I enter and says, fuck the gentry

Evil At The Wayward Inn
No more boarders,'
the inn keeper spewed
raising her arms in the air.
People once came to the inn in droves
because it was a quaint little structure
with flower beds surrounding it
It stood on the outskirts of town
a darling little place it was
that is until the unthinkable occurred
Some tennants were good renters
perhaps the majority of them were
Then came a drifter with a scraggly beard and shifty eyes
He tried to make the inn his home
much to the innkeeper's chagrin
There was something odd...

raising her arms in the air.

Untitled (Sounds of the City)
Dew hangs above the blades of grass
Like some Chinese weather balloon
Sink into the hammock of my sleep
As my thoughts dream their dreams
Pick up my thoughts and some coffee
Put em into the passenger side
With no safety belt
Train on the tracks that pass through town
Clack their clackety clacks
As the light turns green
Pick up the rhythm the city lays down
Hear the beep beep of reverse
Delivery at the market
Siren picks up where delivery left off ...

Another Day
Waking to the city’s cold embrace
Concrete boots, heart’s misplaced
City lights, mood’s a haze
Echoes of sirens, a bad day’s craze
Coffee’s my fix, frosty veins
Steel canyons, icy reins
Luck’s lost in alleyways
Howlin’ wind, urban disarray
Detective eyes, steel and gray
Neon signs, flicker and sway
Ghost town echoes, shadows play
Lone wolf’s howl, city decay
Guitar strummin’, subway hum
Ghost in the crowd, widow’s drum
Briefcase loaded, devil in disguise ...

Jack Tha Lad In Jack Land
Gino went and played pool every Friday night.
With his friend Stevie G, they'd go and have some pints.
The stress from his Mrs at home was wearing on his brain,
So he always wanted to cut it loose, so he didn't go insane!
One day, when he was off his bonce, he drank shots at the bar.
He pulled this little, fine ting, but he never took it far.
He would meet her every other day, and Emma was her name.
Till Poppy spotted them out one day and chased her down the lane.
Gino and Emma used to hook up, but only...

Finally Free From A Family Who No Longer Loves Me
Angela woke up,
saw the sun rising over
the Los Angeles
city scape and made herself
let out a gigantic smile.

country roads
There are songs that come free from the blue-eyed grass, from the dust of a
thousand country roads. This is one of them.” —Robert James Waller
Christ!
the city is killing me!
her walls are fingers
at my throat,

daily die i to be free.

mobs
hem me in on every side,
police sirening
through the night,
peace in flight,
wild children screaming
where they yesterday would ride.

into every living pulse ...

Atlantis rises
Under the water a city floats.
Invisible walls protect the people from the ocean.
Above the waves, nobody knows of the city below.
The worshipers lay flowers before their Gods to show their devotion.
For centuries this city has stood against the wave of incoming tides.
For generations its people have tried,
To find a way to live above and not just accept being uprooted;
But there are those would claim to rule,
So Atlantis must remain secluded.
The Atlantian’s feel trapped inside their sphere.
They want to find land; they want a new...
