SMALL GREEN CATERPILLAR
Oh small green caterpillar, destined to transform
With your future of vibrant wings to adorn
Feasting and growing, unaware of what's in store
The tale you weave as I sit and learn
In your cocoon, in slumber so forlorn
Fear not, for you're not on your own
I'll await the morning when you will be reborn
To witness the beauty you have grown
A splendid monarch butterfly, now free to soar
The winds pick up their melody, like a horn being blown
With your future of vibrant wings to adorn
Feasting and growing, unaware of what's in store
The tale you weave as I sit and learn
In your cocoon, in slumber so forlorn
Fear not, for you're not on your own
I'll await the morning when you will be reborn
To witness the beauty you have grown
A splendid monarch butterfly, now free to soar
The winds pick up their melody, like a horn being blown

Waiting on the Wings
Sometimes you have to wait for the right time
For the right place
And when the time comes \ / we know it by heart
Because it just feels right \ / it just feels great
A butterfly knows exactly toO and by natural instinct
When it’s time to transform (.) when it’s time to change
The fantastic metamorphosis(…) is an awakening
Of mind, of body, of spirit, (….) and everything within
Slowly taking shape and form \ / all the while waiting on the wings
For the right place
And when the time comes \ / we know it by heart
Because it just feels right \ / it just feels great
A butterfly knows exactly toO and by natural instinct
When it’s time to transform (.) when it’s time to change
The fantastic metamorphosis(…) is an awakening
Of mind, of body, of spirit, (….) and everything within
Slowly taking shape and form \ / all the while waiting on the wings

weightlessness
A very common caterpillar
eating leaves non-stop.
She dreams of being a butterfly...
Could have been a butterpillar
or it could even be a caterfly...
Ends of the same Gordian knot.
eating leaves non-stop.
She dreams of being a butterfly...
Could have been a butterpillar
or it could even be a caterfly...
Ends of the same Gordian knot.

butterfly wings
a lyric mirror 48©
not for antartica:
lithe, wind-cleaving creature
noislessly kite-dancing.
ovum into larva,
butterfly from pupa,
every rose romancing.
delicate by nature,
wings of pure gossamer.

The Long Winter Ends
After the celibate winter
The hot climax of spring
Thawing out frozen hearts
Whispering birds begin to sing
The tired day succumbs
To the thick embrace of night
Black serpents in the sky
Wrap round the shivering light
Out of the sewer sludge
Clean politicians creep
Butterflies break free
From long metamorphic sleep
The hot climax of spring
Thawing out frozen hearts
Whispering birds begin to sing
The tired day succumbs
To the thick embrace of night
Black serpents in the sky
Wrap round the shivering light
Out of the sewer sludge
Clean politicians creep

Whispers of History: The Beautiful Courtyards of New Orleans
In New Orleans, the courtyards sing,
A symphony of peace and beauty it brings,
A secret haven, hidden away,
Where time stands still, for just one day.
The rustle of leaves and gentle breeze,
Soothes the soul, puts the heart at ease,
The sun shines down on ancient bricks,
As history stands, a timeless mix.
The sound of fountains softly flows,
As butterflies dance, in delicate shows,
A rainbow of colors, bright and bold,
Reflecting stories, still untold.
The Spanish moss, drapes with grace,
A tapestry of green, a delicate lace, ...
A symphony of peace and beauty it brings,
A secret haven, hidden away,
Where time stands still, for just one day.

Wax ( Free Verse )’23
A thousand eyes peering out.
In cherry red to pale pink streaks.
Against an emerald canopy that sways randomley to and fro.
Whilst the aluminum sky screams for the sunrise.
A lime green body, tagged with random markings.
The obnoxious spray paintings are hard to read.
The body moves like a cheap, rundown roller coaster.
Only way more painfully slow, like carrying laundry.
Blinded by the reflective light on silk.
Turning into a leaf bound satelite with no good channels.
For you have way too much time on your hands.
If you sit...

Butterfly Tights
i wish i knew how to tell you what’s wrong with me..
your eyes are windows, i can see the questions inside
and they like to stay there, don’t they?
having said that, i am misunderstood
people circle my waking hours like moths to a street lamp
they are attracted
am i selfish for arousing it?
trying to catch me is all the fun
some call it playing “hard to get”
but i just love a good game
and boredom is my enemy.
i scare myself with this brain of mine
trapped in a doll-like body, so
unassuming

only butterflies
let her hair flow
like waterfalls, that crash over granite cliffs
stop to gaze into her emerald eyes
iris like poison ivy that grows wild
and she has a thorny edge
so hold her in the right places
let her skin unfold
a fog like presence, as she melds with clouds
an angel, who rests her halo
you might spot her in the flower fields, among poppies and daisies
can you keep up?
are you strong with nets?
though she be light and airy, only butterflies fall into your trap
and even if you capture her, she’s bound to...

The Monarch
In a land filled with smoke
A monarch flaps her wings
Billowing the smog
Far beyond the kingdom's walls
Embers blaze, only shadows persist
For light is a miracle
And God has no place for that
This courtyard is desecrated
once a sanctuary, now a prison
But she blazes among the grey
a prism of hope against reality
Bullet holes in paper wings,
Bombshells in flower meadows,
Ashes in bright memories
The house is annihilated
Yet her hope is untouched
In a land filled with smoke
A monarch...

Butterfly Bush
Just cannot beat the rush
of the butterfly bush
when it is filled
chock full of beauty
So many varied hues
yellows, oranges and blues
like so many silk ribbons
dancing in the breeze
Always meant to please
a black and white soul
when she takes a stroll
along the back yard
A lesson so hard
to truly learn
while the candle does burn
about the balance of life
With both joy and strife
as they teeter
to the iambic meter
of life and and its poetry
of the butterfly bush
when it is filled
chock full of beauty
So many varied hues
yellows, oranges and blues
like so many silk ribbons
dancing in the breeze
Always meant to please
a black and white soul
when she takes a stroll
