The Storm Within
what can she say when a storm within
the depths of her heart had started to grow
the cold touches of betrayal begin to descent
in her complacency and trust so sure
the twenty years of togetherness
gone in a minute like a train crash
nothing seemed to make sense
gone now the security just love unsure
hubby dear so handsome so faithful
had tasted the forbidden fruit of outside love
embraced the lovemaking on a strange bed
tasted the ambrosia and varieties of excitement
now he chose to stray and play hard ...

To Be Wanted
To Be Wanted
No one wants
to be
the consolation prize,
not to be
the one
in her eyes,
not to have
that central
core space,
the reason
the moonlight
wakes up on her face.
The boxes
she keeps
in her underwear drawer
are filled
with the letters
of dreams of still more.
And every sad look
of having
just settled
reminds
of fourth place,
not even medaled.
No one wants
to be

My Monster
When the dark hours rang,
I remained inside,
Locked away from the danger,
Breathing behind doors,
As my parents had warned
To be safe,
Embraced in my blanket, I slept.
While claws crept from beneath the bed,
Where my monster hid,
The one my parents had left,
To rest at ease.
I lay engulfed in my sheets,
Waiting for the promised tricks,
That carved out my nightmares.
I remained inside,

a force to deal with, burning with feeling
arrogant of heart my pride was tested
still inherently me, some the wiser
love is not one-sided, it is multifaceted
don't judge the family dynamics, I am needed
interloper with no conscience
you say, love, I see someone working a man and his lusts
my kindness for him knows no bounds
with understanding I treat him
I've protected him over the years in more ways than one
