A Glimpse of Treachery
The city stirred, a beast in morning’s glow,
As dawn’s first light began its golden flow.
On window panes, a labourer named Jay,
Ascended high, where wealth and secrets lay.
His family waited, distant, worlds apart,
Their lives entwined within his beating heart.
His wife, so fair, her image filled his mind,
A gentle warmth, a love of purest kind.
He pushed the thought aside, the ache to hold,
And focused on the task, as he’d been told.
Penthouse windows gleamed, the sun’s embrace,
Revealing shadows in this gilded space.
