frozen
I'm frozen in time
immovable
forever the same in your eyes
Time passes
poison ivy grows
where love once bloomed
Do you remember me
as anything more than
a rebellious child searching for freedom?
Will I ever be anything more
than a mistake of fate
that you wish died at birth?
I've spent my whole life
defying the odds
stacked against me
But I'm only useful if I'm useful
and I've never been useful
by the standards you've set
I try and hold on to better...

i whisper words of love
but they slip off you
like frayed silk
my playful fingers pry
like a flittering butterfly
but you repulse
as some slimy earthworm's
wriggling on your skin

you called it sunflower;
