The Journey Within
Sometimes we look at the progress we’ve made
By looking at the things we were able to overcome
And sometimes we look back the road behind
Reflecting on the past so as to move forward
A thirty-day writing challenge is a journey within
It’s an exercise in indulgence and creativity
Setting personal goals of inspiration and discipline
So we can express ourselves honestly and freely
By looking at the things we were able to overcome
And sometimes we look back the road behind
Reflecting on the past so as to move forward
A thirty-day writing challenge is a journey within
It’s an exercise in indulgence and creativity
Setting personal goals of inspiration and discipline
So we can express ourselves honestly and freely

april songs (Theme 3): Attitudes of Life 10
april song 30—all my life (punto finale)
were all my days renumbered as the grains
of sand that on the ocean fringes pine,
i wonder what would be my remnant gains,
ere vibrant youth yields to life’s swift decline.
would all my lyrics wither with the dawn,
to cadence like the sacrificial fawn?
were all my life the lyrics of one poem
—a ballad of engaging latitude—
whose metaphors compelled bright stars to know ’em,
would death accord a lither attitude
to destinies my journey must fulfil
before earth silence...
were all my days renumbered as the grains
of sand that on the ocean fringes pine,
i wonder what would be my remnant gains,
ere vibrant youth yields to life’s swift decline.
would all my lyrics wither with the dawn,
to cadence like the sacrificial fawn?
were all my life the lyrics of one poem
—a ballad of engaging latitude—
whose metaphors compelled bright stars to know ’em,
would death accord a lither attitude
to destinies my journey must fulfil
before earth silence...

I am afraid of what my Husband has become
He has drained all of my resources
And makes me work day to night
I can’t escape because the money
He takes funds a genocide
He has control over my body
And what I may or may not do
He poisons my food and water
And feeds me prescriptions until I’m blue
He sent our child to school
Knowing the teacher is armed and loaded
There is no place to go where
His morality hasn’t folded
He’ll silence me completely
If I do not stand up now
...
And makes me work day to night
I can’t escape because the money
He takes funds a genocide
He has control over my body
And what I may or may not do
He poisons my food and water
And feeds me prescriptions until I’m blue
He sent our child to school

Euphoric
Enraptured by the twinkling stars
and their glimmer in his galaxy.
Umbra, release me from the trauma
and deliver me into the light.
Purple ices over the midnight hues,
and the reflection adds the silver lining.
Hanging on to the edge of the sickled moon,
hoping to see far beyond the expanse
orbiting and interwoven by speckles
that accompany me along the way.
Rotating planets foretell my fate
then tuck me away in a dream.
Inspiration returns and struts
alongside my rhythm and flow.
Cosmically lost...
and their glimmer in his galaxy.
Umbra, release me from the trauma
and deliver me into the light.
Purple ices over the midnight hues,
and the reflection adds the silver lining.
Hanging on to the edge of the sickled moon,
