the indelible ephemera of you
I found forever in the ether
called your blue eyes salvation
and pretended we could be God
like we were capable of using
that kind of power for anything other
than mutual self destruction
I've loved you for a lifetime
made stained glassed pictograms of you
and cut my feet on their remains
after I smashed your memory
on the floor
when you traded me for a woman
you found wrapped around
a stripper pole
If I had a dollar for every woman
you wanted more than me
I could shout myself a months ...

Hurting
This can’t go on
This hurting
And being hurt
Bashing into a wall
Of doubt
Until I can’t remember anymore
If I am a good person
Having caused others such doubts…
Bring a hug…
Bring a break from
these pointless endeavors…
I just need to sink softly
Into your quiet arms
& rest against
your firm strong chest
I need to feel safe & loved again.

Unwanted Double Date
Another year, the calendar turns,
Still silent, where your laughter learns
To echo in the empty air.
Today, a birthday,oh, the joy you'd share,
A happy day, you're two...bright new start,
But grief still tightly, clenches to my heart.
December eighth, a dreaded double date,
Your birth and your death, a cruel, harsh fate.
A life unborn, a future grim,
A world you never entered in.
No childhood joys, no sunlit days,
Just shadowed years, and the tear-filled haze.
My heart, a bird with broken wings,

as icy drops speak in whispers on my reddened cheeks
as wild winds rush harshly with the gently roaring waves
rushing fast across these salty puddled tidelands
Feel how the peace cuts deep
Hear how the silence echoes
Reminiscences of love
Walk with me and warm my hands
that now stiffen, frozen by cold winds of another year

a year that soon will pass with the fireworks of midnight
Hold me close
Sloshing through this nearly midnight sea ...

2025 Prayer
On a chilly northern beach
A white shell
And a red rock
Share this prayer
One shimmering on a shrine
Before the frigid gentle waves
One tucked into a driftwood nest
Both blessed
by the proclamations of a child
born of innocent belief
That these “prayer rocks”
Might hold powers of relief
From our hurts and troubles
So I placed my offerings there
selected for beauty and uniqueness
with particular care
To these unknown beach-side gods
With my whispered requests
That 2025 might be OUR year
That we might...

You always will be
You know I can't stop thinking about you
For the last three nights I've been dreaming about you
It's always the same dream, you don't want me
This morning I woke up and I swore it was real
I lay there for a while and thought about all the things that I had to do in the dream
How fucked up it was and it took me that long to figure out it was a dream
I thought I had it beat
I thought I had you out of my head for good
I must have slid back because now you're all I think about
I was so proud of myself
I was actually healing
But now I'm back...

Endless days after you died
Stars glisten in the night
