A Sneetch ( after Theodor [Dr] Seuss Geisel )
There are havettes, and have notettes–
yet in all honesty, without possessions
who can tell the difference?!
They appear the same shape –
male and female alike; O! But wait!
is it a tittle of a title they covet?!
Or, perhaps, in all honesty –
it’s a jealousy thing ; O! Me! Why
clonedingus another Sneetch?
We each have our trinkets – we’re all
born completus; O! Yet, it’s not enough!
Some Sneetches choose to be leeches!
Is it fortune, fame they don’t deserve –
but feel they...

The Wally Sticks
Sit back, kick back, I will tell you a story in rhyme,
‘Bout Wallyroo Ninety-Two in his prime time,
So we’ll travel back to nineteen eighty nine,
When he was just fifteen and joined the drumline.
Earlier Wally had been a “sucky" drummer,
Could not keep up the beat, it was a bummer
But over the summer he practiced real hard,
And once in high school he got his calling card.
He leaned to read music and how to play notes,
A skinny nerd who'd never been able to gloat,
He still sucked but he was getting much better,
For one day he...

Don't ask a hungry teen for poetry prompts
Bananas,” he said
off the top of his head,
“They’re yummy, and radioactive,” he smiles.
Are you kidding? You brat!
What can I do with that??
But I let myself ponder bananas a while.
I could wax sentimental,
and write a parental
remembrance of babies just learning to eat.
Perhaps talk of sweetness,
that aching completeness
when finally a soul mate you happen to meet.
Or I could reminisce
‘bout that comforting kiss
when I tried (and I failed at) banana cream pie.
I could write a big rant
of a world...
