The four of them got out of the car
The husband, the wife, the kid & the dog
The kid spills his soda on the back seat as he's leaving the car
WHACK!!
The husband hits the kid right in the mouth
"You little pig fucker"
"I just had this cleaned"
The wife leans over and says,
"WHY DID YOU DO THAT, YOU PATHETIC PIECE OF SHIT!!!?"
The husband turns around, towards the wife and
WHACK!!
He claps her right on her left side
This made the dog angry
The dog comes over...

VIOLET'S TALE
A lady down in Toronto
Is fighting just to stay alive
Rhythmic beeps and blood-stained sheets
Our lady weeps, she's tired and frail
To set the scene we must rewind
The hands of time for Violet's tale
Violet was a silent girl
Grew up with violent starts
Her mother was a drinker
And her father was a bastard
Every night he'd tuck her tight
But never left the room
I'll spare you of the things he did
I'm sure her mother knew

She moved out at sixteen

The boy hid under his bed when he would hear his father come into the house
A large, hairy, burly man, who has a problem with his hands
Almost every night he comes home drunk
The father would come into the boy's room, wake him up and begin taunting him
His dad would begin touching him inappropriately

A Lullaby in January or A Portrait of Sisterhood
I’m in first grade and the bus drops me off at the bottom of our steep driveway. Jamie waits for me at the top. Papa's girlfriend forgot to leave the door unlocked when she left.
There is ice and snow on the ground, and it will be dark soon. She holds my hand to walk through a patch of woods to the neighbor’s house to use their phone to call Papa.

That's the place he goes when they go at it
Mother & Alien, this man/boyfriend
This thing that watches TV or it's i-phone and drinks long cans of malt liquor in the dark
Sometimes the Alien is there when his mother isn't
