'I just feel I should sort this business out with Gordon while I have the chance.'

She hangs up on me. Definitely cross. I join Gordon in the pub again. He's sitting with a large group of twenty-somethings, professional looking people, in the main room, talking about the gym. The receptionist with the henna coloured hair is there, playing...

I've been trying bestie...
to understand the changes in you.
You can't look me in eye!

Is our friendship...going to die?

I can't tell you it's love
You call me
looking for answers
but wanting reassurances
that your heart beats the right way
and that your boyfriend
isn't a manipulative
semi-violent fucktard
unable to manage his insecurities
I tell you our childhoods
make us colourblind
and that for all the good green days
the red shine brighter
than your eyes (and heart)
can see
I would tell you
you're codependent
but you already know that
and it would make me a hypocrite
There are too many reasons
we stay when...
looking for answers

Papa Noel aka Santa
My friend dresses as Papa Noel.
That's Santa to you & me.
O how splendid and dandy he looks.
He spread love and joviality.
Where ever he goes & no Yo Ho Ho.
Papa Noel ask me to be his elf.
Glad i was sure to be.
I dressed for the part.
I became his drunken ellifer.
So in the zone i became.
More convincing I was.
Liability I seemed to be.
A musketeer saw me appear.
rang away to tell the queen.
Papa strode up I lurched behind
Happy to be Santa's gimp.

Chaotic Universe
I still recall her red hair and distinctive flavor.
Chaotic!
She made you hold your breath!
The colorful memory of the vibrant scenery!
The astonishment she gave colliding,
As play challenged and relaxed her face,
As on the heights and lows of the hologram, conceived on
human flesh!
As on heartfull beat,
Ever-expanding,
She emitted the sparkle of bouncing stars,
Beautifully unshaped.
Like the universe!

Why Do Recovering Alcoholics Love Diet Coke?
Mariah brings me carrots, and pasta, and money for thirty diet cokes, if I want.
She hugs me in her orange puffer coat, because she knows I have been scream crying
and bargaining with the universe, again. She’s been doing the same.
She grips me tightly and I cling to her, and we cast a spell that makes the five pm winter darkness
feel less like a life sentence.
Boys said they loved us and left. And that is the familiar knife we keep turning inside ourselves.
We give every twist a new name, but the hole looks the same.
I tell her that I hope they can...
