Beyond The Stigma
Disability doesn’t come for free
It’s not free from
Ignorance
Bullying
Stress
Lack of self worth
Maybe it’s meant to be
To be a martyr
Pave the way
For those that will follow
So they won’t feel the pain
The right of acceptance is a battle
There’s no emergency here
Just a single spastic
Once stamped on
There will be no more trouble
What remains undercover
Becomes normal behaviour
It’s not free from

The Tyranny Of Indifference
We will stamp on you
Till you comply
Don’t complain
We write the rules
Just roll over and die
We own the workhouses
No breaks for you
Shut up and do
Slaves have no say
Forget fairness
It’s a fascist regime
Wear the patch
Take the beatings
You’re the reason
Everything has gone wrong
You are not human
Don’t deserve thought
It’s our leash
We pull it
You choke to the command
Strain what strain
You are weak
It don’t matter if you snap ...
Till you comply

Words That Don’t Make Sense
Alone,
She says.
I feel alone,
All the time.
I hear her,
I’m sure of that.
Though I feel like I’m fading,
Fleeting and ungraspable.
Hold me down,
I say.
Do not touch me,
A double negative that doesn’t cancel out.
I want to die,
She says.
Maybe just because she can,
Because she can’t.
I chase her,
She stands still.
Two negatives,
Attracted to the repulsion.
Can I help you.
Like a question,
without the question mark.
...

Restless
Unending static
The sound of a restless mind
Shuffling in its bed
Blankets kicked to the floor
It wails and screams
Scratching deep red lines into its legs
All its wants is to sleep
To embrace a comforting darkness
Hitting its head against the wall
Begging for unconsciousness
To drown its own voice
To forget its cries
A worried little creature with absolutely nothing to worry about
Unending static
The sound of a restless child

I don’t feel wrapped in silver foil and gold leaf
I feel like earth
I feel cloaked in leaves and swallowed in dark

honesty
