Normal
Love presses on the heart of the child without it
Weighs on her chest like an anchor
Forces her down forcing her to inhale all the pain
Pain sears through the smile she wears
Cloaks itself hiding behind her eyes
Brown with flecks of agony lodged in
But you have to look real close and know what to look for
In order to see it
Rage boils under the long hair she hides behind
Permanently embedding itself into her thoughts
Screaming and clawing to get out her throat
Leave her lips so you will leave her life
Make all this anger just disappear
Vanish into the night like everyone she loves
Vanish into the night because she knows everyone does
That’s why in her eyes pain is the same as love
Fear is cast aside with words like ‘it’s ok’
Drowning in the depths of her own heart
Trying not to give into all these feelings
For she knows they are not normal
Normal isn’t fearing the affects of everything you say
Normal isn’t fighting yourself every fucking day
Normal isn’t a tornado of forbidden emotions
Storming inside your heart making it hard to breath
Unacknowledged but not willing to be forgotten
Normal is smiling with no effort
Laughing because it forces itself out your mouth
Like of cough when you have bronchitis
Instead of you forcing it out your mouth
Like a child playing sick
Normal is thinking of the perfect wedding
Not the perfect lie to hide behind
There are lies lodged in her throat waiting for you to ask
Waiting for you to question her pain
Waiting for you to realize she’s in pain
Waiting for you to finally care enough to notice
That behind her brown eyes lays universes in which she put
All these warring emotions in
Visiting each persona as necessary
Molding herself into what you need of her
Masking everything she is
Denying everything she could be
Showing you only what you want to see
Weighs on her chest like an anchor
Forces her down forcing her to inhale all the pain
Pain sears through the smile she wears
Cloaks itself hiding behind her eyes
Brown with flecks of agony lodged in
But you have to look real close and know what to look for
In order to see it
