The Fool
HAPPY APRIL'S FOOL
He thought he had it all
wrapped snugly in his bag
He carries all his belongings there
His life the perfect drag
He wanders restlessly
through the day
and sometimes through the night
So no one, he feels
can really see his plight
Of not having a destination
a place he calls his own
He is the haphazard wanderer
his heart it has no home
And what he actually carries
no one can really see
he is the ultimate magician
as he teeters toward the edge
his poor dog tries to save him
as he leans out on the ledge
His arms outstretched as wings
he looks out across the land
as far as he can see
he bows his head against the wind
and sets his spirit free
You never actually see him fall
he just disappears from the cliff
Silently drifting all his cares away
As he falls into earths jewel
the last thought that enters his heart
He was nobodies fool.
He thought he had it all
wrapped snugly in his bag
He carries all his belongings there
His life the perfect drag
He wanders restlessly
through the day
and sometimes through the night
So no one, he feels
can really see his plight
Of not having a destination
a place he calls his own
He is the haphazard wanderer
his heart it has no home
And what he actually carries
no one can really see
he is the ultimate magician
as he teeters toward the edge
his poor dog tries to save him
as he leans out on the ledge
His arms outstretched as wings
he looks out across the land
as far as he can see
he bows his head against the wind
and sets his spirit free
You never actually see him fall
he just disappears from the cliff
Silently drifting all his cares away
As he falls into earths jewel
the last thought that enters his heart
He was nobodies fool.
