paper faces on parade..."

Masquerade
I put this face on everyday
it's just a fake
concealing the agony inside me
Masquerade
eyeliner and good grades
take that away
you'll see the pain that's in hiding
another day, another scar
wear the mask, dance around
in the performance of fallen stars
blood red laces!
to keep the hurt and the burns
from being unleashed
you just have to wear the mask!
Tell the lies! Hide the pain!
it's a need, it's a must
hide it from the world gone insane
enthusiasm is easiest to feign-
just pull it over the truth,
tie the blood red lace
and you've got your mask in place
Masquerade!

I enjoyed how you wrote this. Lot's of context and clever takes on it, and a deep sentiment of trying and sadness make it a heartbreaking write-which is always great in poetry :-) Well penned parody

thank you, miki. I've always loved phantom of the opera especially Masquerade and since I've been down lately, this was a good way to describe the pain. :)
