The Riddle
I have spent all my life searching for the answer
To the riddle I was told so long ago
“Find the truth amongst the lies”
“Find the hollow soul in a thousand longing eyes”
What is lost but can never be found
I am just a simple man with delusions of grandeur
If I could bring peace to hateful hearts
I would feel the weight of the world on my conscience
I already do, I’m an ignorant fool
I have spent my life searching for that hopeful embrace
That would cure this disease plaguing my mind
It is the words on this page, The beast in the cage
Am I walking towards you or farther away
Am I spilling my thoughts for someone who has naught to say
It is treason against the law that I founded
“Live for yourself, Live through the hopeful and believers”
You are neither peaceful nor violent
The indifference is killing me, What can I do to make you see
I am suffocating on your silence, And have not seen you since
