Always and Forever?
So they sit upon the throne
up high for all to see
making decrees about other's fates
gleeful folly on an altar
of playdough and silly putty
Crafting an empire
cracks in the foundation
fortell of the future
not attune to the knowledge
"that a castle made of sand
built so close to the sea
will fall eventually"
The talking heads all around
dissecting all we know
the books, music, sports, politics
the motivation is all about the dough
Ask why are they needed to validate
existence, awarders of a grade
our parents already did that
when that first breath was what we made
Some come the mighty nation-states
procuring wealth and such elaborate things
deluded into a sense permanence
with the feet of iron and clay
"To everything turn, turn, turn
there is a season turn, turn, turn
and a time to every purpose under Heaven"
Lyrics courtesy of the Book of Ecclesiastes, Pete Seeger
