Lights Flicker

Lights flicker off and on with every soul sucking station we pass though
Slithering down the tracks like a snake in the sand trying to find its prey
Only feet are visible from my seat, boots, sandals and impossibly high heels
A fat woman pressed up against Plexiglas with feeble attempts at trying to get away

Announcement of stations yet to appear float about our heads
Passengers look around with certain nervousness perspiration nearby
Sweaty crotches at eye and nose level, stale piss and stench too close
Looking up I’m met with underarms wearing that tell tale tidemark on not so fresh shirts

Curry spice smells fermenting in the air mixing with the dirt and grime
An assault to all senses not welcome at this late hour
A couple facing one another pressed up close openly fondling each other and drawing glances
Hands up sweaters squeezing tits, her hand down front of his jeans while kissing each other eagerly.

Fuck get a room....

Doors slide apart then the pushing and shoving starts, woman with pushchair having the advantage
Small child screaming with tiredness and hunger, heat on the train too much for one so small
The destination is where the flickering lights end and darkness descends
Watch it swallow you up like the pitch black tunnel we have passed though

This is the end of the line for me at least!
