Letting the Days Go By
I hit the pavement hard, running
Away.
The slick pebbles of the pavement
Begin to blur
As my step quickens.
Letting the days go by. Time ticks. I’m still running.
My eyes meet the sky’s.
Memories cloud the familiar shade of twilight.
The wind is still and soft on my face
As I cut through it.
Letting the days go by. Time ticks.
The saltiness
Of rain and tears.
Letting the days go by.
My eyes
Hold emptiness
Yet they are ten times as heavy.
Then they are gone.
Away.
The slick pebbles of the pavement
Begin to blur
As my step quickens.
Letting the days go by. Time ticks. I’m still running.
My eyes meet the sky’s.
Memories cloud the familiar shade of twilight.
The wind is still and soft on my face
As I cut through it.
Letting the days go by. Time ticks.
The saltiness
Of rain and tears.
Letting the days go by.
My eyes
Hold emptiness
Yet they are ten times as heavy.
Then they are gone.
