Sacred Heart
I stand here in the rain--the acidic rain--
And look up at the sky--the dark gray sky--
I stand here in such pain--such unending pain--
And for the first time, I cry--for the last time, I cry.
I stand between the trees--the tall, timeless trees--
Because these people cannot see my face--my terrified face--
I yell out my plea--my useless plea--
Because they have not heard my case--my pitiful case.
I say I'm scarred, they say I'm scared, but you say I'm sacred--invariably sacred--
Since you look up to me--helpless, hopeless me--
I say I'm a lost cause, they say I always was, but you say I stand to make it--that I must make it!--
Since you made it for me--scarred, scared, sacred me.
