Into that smaller space
the one
where lessons dwell
the one
where the costs stack up
the one
where there is no turning back
the one
where vulnerability takes its toll
the one
that makes us humble
the one
that asks us to transform
the one
wherein there is no looking a second time
the one
where there is no corner of the eye
the one
where if I had known I still would have gone there
the one
where having had that experience paints an expert
the one
where I had to be at just the right time
the one
where if I had not made that choice
the one
where my life changed for good or better
the one
where my poetry expressed my naked fears
the one
where everything from now on out is an after that
the one
with you in it.
