I Am The Sea

My pace deliberately slows as I approach the cliff.
So soon your rumbling music will caress my ears.
And wave after growling wave rolls out to greet me,
Like a reckless, fast approaching storm.
My constant friend, I said I would return.

I taste you now, the salt, the weed, the smell of distant places,
Blown in and carried softly beneath an ever watching moon.
The smell of wet rock in all its infinite sizes and disguises,
Invading and pervading my senses,
As I eagerly drink you in.

Intoxicated now I am transfixed, I cannot, will not turn away.
For you have truly captivated me again.
Selfish, Greedy, ravenous, Inspired.
These are now my final moments, at sunrise we will be as one.
As your wonderful orchestra calls me forward,
Deep into the labyrinth of you.

To where these last expectant steps surrender,
My soul to your carpeted beach of glass.
I pause a while beguiled by you, humbled by your power.
As trembling fingers slowly peel, the cotton from my back.
Panicking hands remove all trace of all that stands between,
This moment and that man.

Naked now I stand before you, both to nature's liking and intent.
Pull back your bow, haul in the line and gently draw me home.
Watch me turn my mind and back upon the fading shore-line,
To strike out for your ocean's heart.
Sweep me out in full submission, ensure your salt's seal every pore.

I cast a final thought for all I care not to remember
Now take me out, pull me down then fold me under,
I'll take this one last breath and roll face down,
For that long awaited, drowning kiss..........I am the sea.
