I'm Somebody Now (Valentine's Day 2018)
I'll pick you up, cos we have a date,
And you'll look good, but not as beautiful,
As I'll remember you being.
I'll tell you look nice,
Throw my fag out of the car window.
It's a convertible, with a V6 engine,
It's expensive, but I can run it,
Because I'm somebody now.
You'll bat your lashes, squeeze my leg,
You'll smile at me in the way that always
Used to get my heart going.
And I'll just keep driving,
Turning to wink at you at the opportune moments.
But other than that, I need to concentrate on the road,
Because your flirting does nothing because I'm somebody now.
We'll have a nice dinner,
You'll tell me about how you were the victim,
In the last heartbreak, even though I'll know
You were the one to blame, because I know you.
I'll smile and nod, and say 'awwwww'.
Be the bigger person, ignore the attempts at baiting me,
Because you don't bother me anymore, I'm somebody now.
I'll pay, despite your arguments, because
I'll have a better job than you,
Earn more money than you,
Get more job satisfaction than you.
I'll be happier, funnier, better looking,
I'll enjoy life more,
Because I worked hard and I'm somebody now.
I'll drive you home, you'll invite me inside.
I'll park my big sports car in one go,
Even though I'm reversing uphill.
I'll follow you in, you'll pour me a whiskey,
I'll take it, let you stand so close,
I can taste your breath.
Because I'm a tease because I'm somebody now.
I'll lean in, but won't go for the kiss,
I'll brush past your jaw with my lips,
Breathe in your ear 'I had a really nice time tonight'
Put my whiskey down behind you, and I'll turn to walk away,
But you'll stop me, with just one touch,
Take my hand, lay down on the sofa,
Because you're turned on because I'm somebody now.
I'll kneel by your side, keep myself up with my arms,
My perfectly toned body just millimetres from yours.
I'll look at your lips, then look into your eyes,
And I'll tell you:
'You had your chance, sweetheart, you threw me away.
You don't bother me anymore, because I'm better than you,
Because despite what you did to me, I'm somebody now.'
And you'll look good, but not as beautiful,
As I'll remember you being.
I'll tell you look nice,
