Subconscious
when we’re asleep our brain
tends to our monsters
it shuts down the electric fence
and they rush out
they’ve anticipated this all day
they wander through the town
down sidewalks and alleys
it’s OK, though
they know the locals here
the meaty bouncer at the corner bar
and homeless dude who sits
on the corner under the neon signs
and smokes a joint
and laughs and watches
but there’s one monster
who doesn’t want to play
it wants to feed
and it means business
tends to our monsters
it shuts down the electric fence
and they rush out
they’ve anticipated this all day
they wander through the town
down sidewalks and alleys
it’s OK, though
they know the locals here
the meaty bouncer at the corner bar
and homeless dude who sits
on the corner under the neon signs
and smokes a joint
and laughs and watches
but there’s one monster
who doesn’t want to play
it wants to feed
and it means business
