Justified
I watched her life ebb from her eyes.
Her skin growing more translucent
Like the moon kissed snow that surrounded us.
I didn't want to do this.
Her blood sang to me
Like the sweetest of canaries.
Her scent engulfed my senses
Making it hard to fight the monster
Dwelling within.
She was so delicate and tender
And my body rejoiced at her sweet taste.
My mind wracked with guilt
I didn't waste one drop.
I became the monster
I had so often loathed
And for my own selfishness.
I needed her
I was nothing without her.
Her smell
Made my long dead heart beat again.
Her smile
Was now my life goal.
I longed to touch her pale skin
But feared in doing so
I would break the one thing
I was meant to protect.
This was the only way.
The way we could be together forever
In every sense.
No more hiding in dark shadows,
No more pain,
No more frenzied passionate kisses
That had to be stopped
In case I broke her in two.
I watched her eyes flutter once again,
That same smile spread across her lips
As my spirit soared
And in the sweet moment
I knew what I had done to her
Was justified.
Her skin growing more translucent
Like the moon kissed snow that surrounded us.
I didn't want to do this.
Her blood sang to me
Like the sweetest of canaries.
Her scent engulfed my senses
Making it hard to fight the monster
Dwelling within.
