Streets
Death has no age out here on these streets
Your own front yard is your death sentence
Where gangs and drug lords feel as though the streets are their personal property and if you are not down with them they make sure you don't wake up
Where men hit the women they so call love and challenge the police to do something about it
Where mothers abandon their children because they are not ready to be responsible
Where people sleep no matter the weather because they have no home
Where people are just reckless with no explanations
Bodies are dumped and nobody makes a sound
And blue and red flashing lights are always on the scene almost hoping to catch a criminal
And sometimes even though criminals are everywhere if you live in a particular neighborhood your call for help is almost ignored
But prostitutes feel the most safe to make their
living
Where predators stalk their victims as they leave a
social event unaware that they will never be heard from Again
Where our streets are filled with filth because we are
