I Try
I try so hard
To make you see
Who I am inside.
I try so hard
To make you see
The rules I can't abide.
These past four years
Have been rough
What I've put you through.
What you don't know
Is how I feel
When I tell the truth.
I've given up.
You just won't see
A world where you can't be.
And even when I try so hard
So maybe you can see.
You'll never know how much it hurts
When you can't see me.

This is one of those poems that makes me think of a song; in this case, The Beatles' "I'm Looking Through You".
