"Mirror, Mirror" she used to chant.
Eyes full of hate
Aimed at me
With a sideways glance.
Sent the Huntsman to take my heart
Didn't know he couldn't play the part.
Lips red as rubies
Hair black as night
Skin white as snow.
My beauty she desired,
For her youth - my blood she required.
The Hunstman fell to his knees
And begged for my forgiveness
I gave in to his pleas.
He found the heart of a pig instead
To offer her Majesty
And away into the woods
I fled.
Stumbling upon a cottage
I took refuge
And rested my weary head.
Startled by noise I hid
In the small blankets
Wondering what was coming my way...
7 little men was not what
I expected I must say!
Bald heads and bushy beards adorned their faces
But the kindness in their eyes was plain.
Funny names did these men possess -
Sneezy
Bashful
Happy
Grumpy
Sleepy
Doc and
Dopey
All lived up to their namesakes indeed!
I soon came to grow fond
And they never asked me to leave,
So off they'd go to work
While I stayed back and cleaned.
One day an old woman
Carrying a basket of apples
Showed up at the stead.
They looked so deliciously juicy -
I simply could not resist!
She motioned to the crisp, greenest one
And said the flavours would swim in my head,
I took greedily.
But alas - old woman she was not!
She changed form as I swallowed a bite.
The Queen cackled over me as on the floor I lay -
Dead!
She checked once again and away did flee -
Just in time as the little men
Were coming back to me.
Lifeless they found me, tears they did shed.
Out of glass and diamonds
They built my eternal bed.
Left gifts and flowers,
Took it in turn to watch me for hours.
News of my coffin spread o'er the land.
One fine Prince came in search of my hand.
He was one that courted me before
Looked at me tenderly, his heart was mine
He swore.
Lifting the glass case, he knelt down
Enveloped my face and kissed me deep.
My lips did part - apple was dislodged
My eyes did weep to breathe -
The little men did exclaim
All excited but still sad to remain.
Onto the horse I was placed,
Kissed each little man on their face.
Prince by my side
Heart full of pride,
I knew where I was headed - I knew my goal.
Into the clouds I went - I was going home.
Eyes full of hate
Aimed at me
With a sideways glance.
Sent the Huntsman to take my heart
Didn't know he couldn't play the part.

Skin white as snow.
