I loved you
I trusted you completely
Joyously
Deliriously I danced in your sunshine
Gladly I suffered your rain
Readily I forgave
You who caused me pain
I ran rapturously
Through bright forests of youth
Your every spoken word my truth
My heart sang to be alive
Then:
You slayed me
Betrayed me
Still I forgave and forgave again
Until your lust forced distrust
Abused ill-used
Lost
Totally confused
Oh yes
Once upon a time
I was a child
