Rakes, Part One

And so it was,
Always a question for answer with him;
Always a lesson demanding student,
Eager or not.

* This is how it is?
 It's beds and pillows soft?

^ It is and has been;
 It will be for you too.
 You'll become accustomed,
 Enjoy!
 These are the finest beds in the house, i was assured.
 But not the finest on our ramble, i assure!

* This is a fine bed. the finest in the world, i'm sure.
 But, what will i dream of?

^ Even now? the work's been done!
 Just... indulge a little, friend. Yes?
 The long road walked... we're here for christ's sake!
 We've just drank the sweetest wine
 And music
 And i've never seen such women!
 I was assured, these are the finest beds in the house!

* This is a fine bed. the finest in the world, i'm sure.
 But what will i dream of?
 I sleep thirsty and dream of wine.
 I sleep dreary and dream of music.
 I sleep lonely and dream of such women.
 I sleep weary and dream of the finest bed in the world.
 This is how it is.
 It is, and has been.
 Now,
 What will i dream of?
