upon viewing a Charles Demuth skyline for the first time
Sapphire sunlight falls and the wind is rose scented
O Sweet San Simeon.
She Sighed and pined around the world
to whirl my Charly Demuth skyline a'blur
and crow'd but good over the harbor
to cover in taffies of sound and forever,
like vines of vistas atop vistas
atop hulking Hearstian villas
bulking swirls of soft swell and Her
smooth smooth paisley pearls,
and perfect lines strutting tippy-top o'mine ,
and lips which lock and curves curves curves curves.
&&&&&&&&&&
swiftly, wistfully
my whiskey eye slurs
and elastic tongue electrically upon
a skin that should be yours but I IIIII cant be sure O
where dear self is concerned
or concealed in these traces of her
or your
metaphysics of motion
and mine momentous endless solitude
broken for a flourish of a moment
& racing and erasing quickly calm as thieving thieves can be.
(my secret,
P.S., i said,
my thoughtless heart)
which claims insatiable hours for itself
-----and twirls in twilight
whats to a'void them dirges of barges
ofwhich the harbor holds
each to each-other so close
like fine lovers should mmmhmm
oh oh oh O oh oh
and O All my kingdom comes, do you know, at such a cost you'd spin
neither heads nor tails of it Friend O cagey friend,
but her sonata of sand is hitching skirts just now &
fingertips tripped
down -
town
down and up and
down again
like cigar smoke in a mazy wind,
like harried gentlemen in overgrown o'ercoats
who are always coming in
from the rain much too late
too late
or near enough anyways
to make no difference anyways.
