Poets Keep On Writing

It has come to my attention  
really something I don't like to mention  
the poetry police are back in town  
one goal to put people down  
  
See my thoughts are easily seen  
very pointless in being mean  
if not promoting violent deeds  
then why snuff out poetical seeds?  
  
Like the great authority on high  
just one way to write, oh my  
relax now people don't get whacked  
if you don't like why attack  
  
Sure be critical but why the hate  
is the need to ridicule that great  
a writer faces negativity all the time  
is that really how fellow poets should spend time?  
  
So a poet may be spicy or raw  
your life is threatened by what you saw?  
calling it vulgar will make it go away  
does everyone have to write the way you say?  
  
Well excuse me but I can't go that route  
see that path just reeks with doubt  
start with one and then it snowballs  
we have seen it before when a society falls  
  
So you creators go and dream  
I would like to think we are on the same team  
for a passage may disturb me, take me to the brink  
in the process it also made me think
