Do I offend thee?

Does my belief offend thee?
That I wouldst trust my intuition?
That I have equal share
In my religion
As the men who believe as I do?

Does my look offend thee?
The sway of my hips
As I dance in joy
Of the sun and moon?

Does my life offend thee?
That I wouldst live
Not in fear,
Only in joy and pleasure?

Does my laughter offend thee?
That I do not bow my head
In solemn prayer?
That in my prayers
Are laughter and playful banter?
That my Gods do not demand sorrow from me?

Does my freedom offend thee?
That I need no priest?
That I am my own priest?
That I speak to the Gods
In my own tongue
And not in Latin or Greek?

Do my Gods offend thee?
That I give them names and faces?
That they are dancers and singers?
That they do not look down upon me?

Does my prayer offend thee?
That I will it, and it come to fruition?
That I can do for myself?

It must,
Or you wouldst not do as you do.
You wouldst not attack me
Nor punish me for my life.
You wouldst not call me witch
Nor heathen,
And we wouldst live in peace.
