The Tear
There is a bittersweet scent
That has lingered on my clothes
For all these years
Of a tear
That was shed
By a broken down
Broken hearted
Little girl
Trying to find her way and
Finding there was and is
No way out.
No way to return.
And this same bittersweet scent
That lingered on my clothes
For all these years
I can now inhale,
And it smells similar to rain
But much sweeter and much
Sadder. It was a single
Tear, shed by a single girl,
But not just an ordinary girl,
A girl that grew up
With that tear beside her
To keep her company.
She promised she would never
Let it go...
Until today. The promise was
Broken and that tear
Finally fell to the ground
And there went the pain,
Gone in an instant.
It will not linger here anymore.
That has lingered on my clothes
For all these years
Of a tear
That was shed
By a broken down
Broken hearted
Little girl
Trying to find her way and
Finding there was and is
No way out.
No way to return.
And this same bittersweet scent
That lingered on my clothes
For all these years
I can now inhale,
And it smells similar to rain
But much sweeter and much
Sadder. It was a single
Tear, shed by a single girl,
But not just an ordinary girl,
A girl that grew up
With that tear beside her
To keep her company.
She promised she would never
Let it go...
Until today. The promise was
Broken and that tear
Finally fell to the ground
And there went the pain,
Gone in an instant.
It will not linger here anymore.
