Enchanted Forest

She enjoys living in oblivion
in a crude log cabin near a pond;
off the beaten path she grows
petunias by the pound.

Beyond the bend her forest green
rings and sings in harmony…

She enjoys feeding tiny birds,
nothing ventured, nothing gained;
her seeds are sewn in Oregon
saplings line her lane.

Inside her garden walls are found
beads and shells from Akutan….

She enjoys lying on her lawn
in the sun on silken afternoons;
weaver spiders spin their webs
round at her command.

Outside her garden wall is found
less and less as time goes on…

She enjoys living in oblivion
without heart to heed the sounds;
off the beaten path she wants
nothing there she found.
