A society we need to save

Across the land and across the sand
Crimes have been done, there is blood on our hands
Vengeance and anger with little regret, I don't clearly understand
Bodies stacking up like soda cans

Living behind bars
Never can change what has been done
Yet isolated like they are on mars
They should lose the right to see the sun

Guilty by a judge and a jury
Are they truly sorry for what they have done?
Off to prison in a hurry
The act of murder, was it just for fun?

People still cry at night
This act of violence seems way too common every day
Have people lost the difference between what is wrong and right?
Sorry seems to easy to say

Life again has been changed forever
Who do they think they are?
To separate people from loved ones in a simple pull of a lever
In the after life i'm not sure if they will make it far

On the tv missing people I often hear and learn
Sadness hits me heavily
For their safety I yearn
Emotions tug at me hysterically
