City at Night (spoken in gravelly late Tom Waits voice)

The mysterious roar of silence
Drowns my soul tonight
My heart is feeling lonely
The window bares no light
Bottles all around me
No room to breathe
No place to go and no messages I receive
Can't wait until the morning
But I can't sleep a wink
The only thing that I can do
Is lie awake and think
Or go out for a cigarette
Smell the city air
Sit down on the pavement
With the cold wind in my hair
Chain them till the sun comes up
Watch the world go by
Pick up stones and throw them
Just to pass the time
And as the day begins again
I stumble back inside
Lie down on my bed alone
And finally close my eyes.
