Is Love Not a Hard Thing
1.
You would say: "Is
love not a hard thing,
something to be worked
at, like Victorian novels
or scraps of untilled soil?"
You would look at me and cryingly
weep, for I would be as silent
as your whispering lushest of lips.
2.
You would say: "Love is like
the metaphor of a path." You
would ask me where it would
lead, although I never knew, never
assurred you: we would peer at
each other's clown faces, wear
our masks until we suffocated.
You would say: "Is
