The contradictions make sense. Emotions and thoughts subtly captured.
Fix your tenses, maybe? And I noticed you used the word "beginning" 3 times, but it works.

Thank you, I had the feeling this one needs some work. Perhaps just breaking it up into two stanzas helps, like this.
