A Hero's Secret
Hiding the secret
Behind capes and cowls and lies
From everyone who admires you
When the disguise fits so perfectly
The super hero becomes his burden
A barrier between reality and make believe
Justifying the crimes of vigilantism
With arrogance that witnesses birthing legends
While the one locked behind a tattered veil
Forms a prison within the flesh of his reflection
Altered by his ego behind a mirror he longs to smash
Knowing that breaking the glass could shatter
The dreams of falling in love to conceive confidence
From the trials of self-authored crucibles
Seeking justice in his personal conviction
That somehow he saved the ones who looked up
Into his mirror mounted on an invisible cloud
Waiting for Lucy to reveal her ugly head
Waiting for each piece to take its place
To alleviate its own relentless loneliness
Crowded by empty, suffocating lost souls
Allowing her arch enemy to believe his secret is safe
Behind capes and cowls and lies
From everyone who admires you
When the disguise fits so perfectly
The super hero becomes his burden
A barrier between reality and make believe
Justifying the crimes of vigilantism
With arrogance that witnesses birthing legends
While the one locked behind a tattered veil
Forms a prison within the flesh of his reflection
Altered by his ego behind a mirror he longs to smash
Knowing that breaking the glass could shatter
The dreams of falling in love to conceive confidence
From the trials of self-authored crucibles
Seeking justice in his personal conviction
That somehow he saved the ones who looked up
Into his mirror mounted on an invisible cloud
Waiting for Lucy to reveal her ugly head
Waiting for each piece to take its place
To alleviate its own relentless loneliness
Crowded by empty, suffocating lost souls
Allowing her arch enemy to believe his secret is safe
