So I thought Maryland increased their alcohol tax
Pages and pages of research indeed
The answer to my question disappeared like melted wax
A nap is now what I truly need

Tired of looking at the computer screen
Doubting the stupid tax prevailed
Now seeing colors like pink, yellow, red and green
To all the sober people out there, you failed!!!!!

I even asked a family member who works for the state
He didn't mention the tax at all
Governor O'Malley's charge was weak, I guess it was fate
Yet gas and everything else is over priced I recall

Maryland's alcohol tax is one of the lowest in the nation
Indeed the stats may show
No wonder why so many live under sedation
Information I bet most didn't know

0.09 for beer and 0.40 tax for a gallon of wine
1.50 for spirits, interesting stuff indeed
Compared to other states we are doing mighty fine
We get taxed enough, for this tax there is no need

Whiskey has not seen a tax increase since 1955
Beer and wine it's been since 1972
Either time this occurred I was not alive
The alcohol lobby board stands strong and true
