The Old Lady

The old lady wandered off into the trees
lost 50lbs and got a scab on her knee.
Sticks in her hair and dirt on her nose,
She surely knows she doesn't smell like a rose.
A traveling stranger left her a handful of seeds,
Said they would take care of all of her needs.
She planted them randomly and carried water from the creek,
And up the plants came with all she did seek.
One plant had jokes to make the old lady laugh,
One plant grew a strong pole she used for a staff.
One plant had love, pure and so sweet,
One plant provided delicious barbecue meat.
One plant played cheery music and sad country songs,
For you can't balance a life if nothing goes wrong.
One plant had fruit which nourished her well,
One plant kept secrets the old lady would tell.
One plant reflected like a looking glass,
Making her gasp at her hair full of grass.
The old lady wandered off so long ago,
But on the off-beaten path the further you go...
Sometimes brings a hint of barbecued meat,
And the soft hint of music is especially sweet
And is that sticks wrapped up in hair?
Up in that tree right over there?
No - that's the old lady!
The end
